Role Synopsis



Baker Hughes Dhahran Global Technology Center Saudi Arabia is seeking to add a Petrophysics Research Scientist in our Unconventional Geoscience group. Baker Hughes is a reputed 100 years old global oil field services company wherein we have a strong reservoir science group that interacts with other functions such as drilling completions fracture designs and well logging. In addition to a full suite of logging tools our geoscience portfolio includes 'Jewel Suite' the proprietary reservoir modeling software.



This individual will actively engage in handson petrophysical characterization of unconventional reservoir and assist in creating a viable reservoir model. Frequent reportout and consultations with internal operations and OampG customers will be required. While based in Saudi Arabia collaborations with other geoscientists located throughout the world are expected.



EducationExperience

PhD with 13 years related experience or MS Degree with 35 years related experience. Educational background in Geophysics Sensors Electrical Engineering Geology Physics Petroleum Engineering or related disciplines preferred.



SkillsKnowledge

Experience in log analysis and interpretation integration of log data with lab data computer analysis of logs seismic modeling synthetic seismograms and reconciliations of log data with reservoir characteristics.

In depth understanding of porosity permeability and its relationships to lithology mineral structure hydrocarbonmatrix interactions and other reservoir rock parameters.

Familiarity with basic functioning of logging tools.

Understanding of various logging sensing techniques such as acoustic EM and the relationship of the signal to the rock characteristics.

Calculations of stress and other mechanical parameters from the log data.

Experience in rock fracture studies and modeling.

Familiarity of exploration geoscience mineralogy and its structureproperty relationships to the rock properties.

Experience with unconventional reservoirs and its underlying fundamental physics.

Familiarity of reservoir modeling protocols and software

Familiarity of lab analysis of core samples

Familiarity of microseismic.

Work experience or familiarity with middleeast is desirable.

Possess strong problem solving skills.

Advanced written and verbal skills.

Make effective presentations to small teams or larger groups.

Track record of publications and conference presentations.

Sound ability to manage time makes quality decisions and be accountable for pertinent business goals.

Must possess ability to build peer relationships as well as work independently.

Fluency in English necessary. Additional foreign languages specifically Arabic desirable.

Phd or PostDoc preferred.



DutiesResponsibilities



Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to

Research petrophysical characteristics of unconventional rock

Interpret logs. Advise operations in designing and optimizing log runs for client needs.

Operate pertinent lab instruments such as NMR geomechanical equipments optical characterizations and others.

Computer modeling and simulation.

Purchase Install new test machineries and software

Conference presentations and research papers

Prepare detailed seismic models from well logs in conjunction with stratigraphic or structural assumptions and create synthetic seismograms for each model using a computerized system. Desirable not essential.

Supervise university interns and teach basic pertrophysics principles.

Application support

o Communicate updates

o Interface with customers field locations and manufacturing locations.

o Proactively patent new inventions and safeguard intellectual property.

o Stay abreast of new competitive products and technologies.

o Interface with universities software vendors and other knowledge source as needed.

o Interface with work groups in different time zones.

o Flexibility to travel globally.
