- Parkhouse Bell is delighted to be recruiting for the role of Director of English Studies on behalf of our client involved in the Colleges of Excellence Programme. Now in its second phase the project represents a significant investment in technical and vocational education and training in Saudi Arabia. The first wave of 10 colleges opened in September 2013 with a further 26 due to open in September 2014.
- Reporting to the Principal across the female colleges the Director of English Studies will develop and implement innovative and effective improvements in all teaching and learning plan and develop curriculum and assessments embed English within vocational learning appoint and develop the English delivery staff and ensure that students are engaged in English and can achieve their learning objectives.
- The ideal candidate will have experience at a senior management level in learning resource centres a proven track record of managing and developing staff as well as extensive knowledge of innovative approaches to English delivery such as the use of IT for both teaching and assessment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a comprehensive English curriculum development delivery and assessment strategy which will maximise transformative teaching and learning.
- Develop strategies and implementation plans to use technology to enhance and support the English curriculum.
- Provide effective leadership and direction for the English delivery developing a strong culture of customer service ensuring the team structure and service levels meet the needs of the college.
- Lead the development of embedded English within the vocational curriculum and through vocational testers where appropriate.
- Introduce technologyenhanced assessment for English wherever feasible and appropriate including the use of eportfolios.
- Establish and manage English learning centres and workshops.
- Provide staff and students with innovative online and traditional resources to develop their English skills.
- Ensure that English development and delivery remains at the leading edge of advancements in the KSA TVET sector and internationally.
- Manage the budget for English resources.
- Support the appointment induction and professional development of English teachers across the TOP colleges.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or professional qualification in English with relevant teaching qualification or degree in another subject with CELTA or DELTA.
