Principal Structural Engineer

Job Purpose
As the Principal Structural Engineer and Advisor to the Royal Saudi Air Force RSAF Aeronautical Engineering Squadron AES Commander the job holder will use his specialist skills and knowledge of design and structures for all Saudi British Defence Cooperation Programme SBDCP Aircraft. He will direct and oversee the work of both Company and Contractor Engineers in the preparation of repair procedures drawings damage assessments and reports ensuring the continued structural integrity of the aircraft.
Key Responsibilities
Ensuring that methods and data used for repairs completed in Kingdom are compatible with those necessary to maintain the structural integrity of the aircraft whilst respecting the standard procedures of the relevant Design Authority DA.
Identifying aircraft repairs which cannot be dealt with inKingdom that need referral to the DA and ensuring that liaison between the DA and RSAF AES staff is taking place in progressing repair work.
Providing advice and assistance on all damage assessments on behalf of the RSAF in order to establish the extent of repair action required.
In addition to duties performed on SBDCP Aircraft provide a consultation role in advising the RSAF on all aircraft related stressing matters on any nonSBDCP aircraft types operated by the RSAF.
Providing structural engineering assistance to aircraft incident and accident investigations.
Ensuring that any Repair procedures Repair Drawings and Damage Assessment reports requested by the AES Commander for all aircraft types operated by the RSAF comply with original aircraft build philosophy.
Prepare and draft briefs on behalf of the RSAF to be presented to MoDSAP the Prime Contractor and vendors at formal and informal meetings such as the Tornado Support Review SBDCP Structures Review and the Tornado and Training Aircraft Meetings.
Advise the RSAF on training requirements for their Engineering Officers to ensure they receive suitable structural familiarisation training appropriate to becoming effective members of the AES.
Provide support to RSAF Officers at meetings and training both informal and in a formal classroom situation.
Functional Knowledge Required
Engineering Honours Degree with a minimum of 10 years experience in Design Engineering Airworthiness and Maintenance Operations plus ideally a minimum of 5 years experience in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Held ChiefSenior Engineering position within the aircraft Design Authority and must have held an MoD aircraft type approved signatory for a minimum of 5 years.
Robust working knowledge of the design qualification and certification processes for aircraft and must have tacit knowledge of one or more of the following Tornado Hawk PC9 Jetstream or Typhoon.
Proven experience minimum 15 years within an aircraft engineering organisation.
Business Expertise
Knowledge of the RSAF Organisation and Regulations.
Knowledge of KSA business and culture.
