Job Purpose:
To Manage procurement of complex requirement of commodities and services, develop & review policies/procedures governing them for improving operational efficiency and develop & implement creative procurement strategies appropriate for the procurement needs.
KEY RESULT AREAS
• Organises and directs purchasing operations pertaining to complex requirements and ensures that they are in compliance with established Policies & Procedures.
• Reviews requisitions and ensures completeness.
• Monitors and reviews the purchasing process from MR through RFQ, quotation evaluation, supplier selection, release of PO upto receipt of material.
• Engages in negotiations with the supplier for terms and price.
• Verifies the quality and accuracy of PO and other important documents before they are submitted for approval.
• Provides liaison between end users, suppliers and finance.
• Provides guidance to internal customers on new requirements.
• Establishes and maintains professional relationships with suppliers to facilitate best purchasing practices.
• Monitors supplier performance and initiates action for improvement.
• Provides reports to higher management on a periodic basis.
• Plans and participates in formulating purchase policies and procedures and recommends amendments when opportunities for improvement are identified.
• Plans and implements cost reduction by way of negotiations and alternative sourcing.
• Provides on-job training to new employees.
• Strictly enforces ethical practices within purchasing function.
• Establishes and leads task force teams for resolving inter-departmental issues pertaining to procurement
• Studies market trends and stays current with the latest developments in materials and products•
