Summary
Provide overall leadership and management for all business unit activities. Take the ownership and responsibility for producing the short and long-range plan sales targets of the business unit, while setting the image, demonstrating the core values and implementing the Company's standards of business conduct. The General Manager will be responsible to the Board of Directors of the organisation and will report directly to a Director of the Board.

The company is a joint venture.The Company is a General Contractor engaged in the business of commercial construction. The Company provides general contracting, design-build, construction management and consulting services to clients in Qatar.
Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
The General Manager will have the ultimate responsibility for implementing the Profit Plan that will include the financial and business development requirements of the Company. The Profit Plan will be approved annually by the Board of Directors and will include a three year Profit Plan. The following is a further listing of the General Manager responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the organisation Business Unit.- Develop and implement Business Plan and strategy based upon consideration of the market, organizational capabilities, competition, and input from the Board of Directors.- Develop and implement the annual Profit Plan using the organization's Business Plan as a guideline. The organisation's Profit Plan will include a list of all projects that must be secured to achieve and maintain the financial profit plan goals.- Ensure strict adherence to safety, ethics and compliance requirements throughout the business unit.- Develop the sales strategy and have the overall responsibility for implementing and achieving this approved strategy.- Develop and maintain a reporting method of the status of all sales prospects and maintain an active participation in the pursuits, meetings, and presentations.- Establish meaningful and long-term relationships with all clients in the business unit.- Responsible for managing and maintaining a positive working relationship with key employees and specifically the Operations Manager and Financial Manager.- Establish communication protocols to ensure that information is shared throughout the business unit.- Oversee management of all departments and communicate openly and regularly.- Lead, develop and supervise the department heads in the business unit, including completion of performance appraisals.- Establish clear lines of authority, supported by a published organization chart to properly support the business plan.- Provide leadership in the risk evaluation, contract negotiations, fee and pricing decisions.- Establish and maintain procedures to protect the financial assets of the Organisation's business unit. This includes overview and approval of all financial reports, compliance with Company policy and timely reporting of known risks.
Profile
Minimum of 4-year Bachelor's degree in a construction related engineering curriculum plus a minimum of 20 years of building construction experience. Thorough understanding of the commercial construction industry and the markets in which the business unit participates including an in depth knowledge of the owners, developers, and architects within the Qatari market. Demonstrates ability to secure construction projects, leadership skills, ability to establish and implement the Profit Plan, proven interpersonal skills and communication skills- both verbal and writing.
