Description



Responsible for managing the functionality and efficiency of Windows Server 2003 2008 and 2012 operating systems. Duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts maintaining system documentation and architecture diagrams tuning system performance and installing software and customizations for the following serverbased applications

Maintains awareness of security vulnerability bulletins. Implements DOD security policies and security vulnerability bulletins DOD IAVAs. Ensures software patches are installed in a timely fashion.



Evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase software coordinates installation and provides backup recovery. Schedules plans and oversees system upgrades. Coordinates with development team on systematic enhancements or changes.



Analyzes system faults and troubleshoots and runs diagnostic tests to detect problems. Evaluates and installs developed software during various phases of testing. Coordinates the remote testing of products on other servers. Reviews and prepares documentation for systems tests and installation of software. Investigates and recommends methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Initiates preventive maintenance on the operating systems as well as repair to systemenvironment problems.



Ensures nightly and weekly backups complete successfully. Supports restoration of critical system outages such as network interruptions and database corruptions.



Plans and executes a variety of highly complex assignments associated with managing and controlling computer systems to include obtaining an Authority to Operate ATO and migrating to a new hosting environment. Coordinates with the Navy Enterprise Data Center NEDC hosting center as needed on operating system virtual machine and hardware issues. Functions as the application's advocate in discussions with the NEDC. Troubleshoots network issues escalates to the Navy Marine Corp Intranet NMCI Help Desk as needed.



Manages standard operating procedures related to the use of computing resources overall strategy design implementation and operation. May participate in the creationmaintenance of the overall management plan. May act as an internal consultant providing work direction and technical guidance to others.



Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible variables. Exercises independent judgment in developing methods techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.



Regularly interacts with senior management levels on matters concerning several functional areas andor customers. Requires the ability to change the thinking of or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations.



Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments. Has complete knowledge of this field and is able to handle seldom and unusual occurring job events. Able to handle complex system administrator issues with planning at the projectproduct level. Creates a course of action for problem resolution which may require conducting research conceiving newinnovated approaches predicting outcomes andor developing new theories. Provides guidance to other team members.



Provides friendly responsive Help Desk support by responding to all support calls emails or direct contacts. Supports users Monday through Friday from 0800 to 1600. Routes calls or emails to the appropriate NEDC or Tier 2 personnel as necessary.



Qualifications



Required



Demonstrated mastery of the job at a senior level.



Security and IAT2 Certifications



Effective oral and written communication.



Able to work alone without supervision.



Desired



Experience administering EMC's Documentum and eRoom applications.



Experience administering PTC's Windchill application.



Experience configuring monitoring and troubleshooting applications that use Weblogic.



Required Education



Bachelor's degree in related technical discipline and 8 years of experience.
