Responsible for independently performing installations, modifications, troubleshooting, testing and repairing of equipment employing solid state electronic controls and devices. Typical examples of equipment serviced include: propulsion system controls, electronic counter measures, transducers, navigation aids equipment, integrated interior communications, etc.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
• Troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, test and install industrial electronics controlled equipment such as solid state circuitry, programmable controllers, variable frequency drives, and solid state digital power supplies on shipboard equipment and systems working on microprocessors, computers and associated peripheral equipment such as keyboards.
• Test, repair, and replace components and parts such as resistors, capacitors, transistors, diodes, integrated circuits, regulated power supplies, relays, switches and motor drive controls.
• Align and calibrate equipment using calibration standards and alignment procedures when available and occasionally aligning by use of schematics and available technical data.
• Upload and download of software files using a laptop interface.
• Perform diagnostic troubleshooting techniques to isolate faults using a wide variety of sophisticated test equipment such as digital volt meters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, logic analyzers and line monitors.
• Work closely with engineers to resolve problems and make improvement recommendations.
