JOB DESCRIPTION Responsible for the direct management of the Systems Design Engineering staff. Organizes project and task work loads and selects individuals most qualified for assignments on specific projects. Directs technical organization to ensure progress according to technical objectives within budgetary and scheduling guidelines. Assesses results of technical projects under direction. Responsible for the employment training motivation and discipline of assigned employees. This is typically the first level of management in this job family. Must directly manage exempt level employees. May manage nonexempt employees directly or through supervisorsleads. It should be understood that this is not intended to be a detailed nor comprehensive description of any individual employee's job content. Managers set the specific duties and responsibilities for each employee. SYSTEMS ENGINEERING Good understanding of systems development lifecycle and systems engineering role throughout lifecycle. Detailed knowledge of one or more of the systems engineering competencies listed above under Scope. Able to handle seldom and unusually occurring job events. SE MANAGEMENT Detailed knowledge of the technical management competencies listed above under Scope. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage motivate and direct technical staff. Characteristics necessary for success include analytical presentation and problemsolving skills the ability to gain internal support to operate independently without supervision or feedback and the ability to establish a solid working relationship with customers technical staff managers and peers. DOMAIN Expert level knowledge of one customer domain or intermediate level knowledge of at least two customer domains



Qualifications



TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited collegeuniversity or addition of 5 years to overall experience requirement. SYSTEMS ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE INCLUDING SE MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE Minimum 6 years experience or 3 years with SE degree or certification. SE MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE None required some lead experience desired. OVERALL ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE INCLUDING SYSTEMS ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE Minimum 10 years general engineering experience 8 years with Masters 6 years with PhD.
