Reporting to the President, the Director of External Relations would be responsible for developing and managing the College’s government and external relations programs. To accomplish this, the Director of External Relations will need to be a key contact person for government stakeholders and planners, and community and corporate organizations, and provide key strategic advice on the College’s position, mandate, and College-wide initiatives as they relate to external relations. The Director will need to approach these matters with a keen perspective to connect Executive, Leadership, and Faculty to key stakeholder representatives, and ensure tactical and operational plans of external relations involving all levels of the College are developed, implemented, and managed. This includes but is not limited to:
Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop and implement government relations (GR) strategies and plans
• Develop and implement a sophisticated and robust Government Relations plan, based on an analysis of sector issues, government policies and CNA-Q priorities. Monitor and adjust plan based on trends, policies and events.
• Serve as advisor to the CNA-Q President, Executive, and Leadership group, as well as CNA President and Executive.
• Stay abreast of relevant issues and provide advice on potential strategies to address issues or capitalize on opportunities.
• Develop strong working relationships with government ministries, agencies, and planning groups, to assist in building CNA-Q’s profile and gaining access and information as required.
• Facilitate discussions on how the College can help the county country on specific needs, strategies, and initiatives.
• Facilitate discussions internally, directly or through the Executive, on the implications of new policies and programs on CNA-Q’s operations or priorities.
Develop and implement a sponsor relations (SR) plan to support relations with business and industry
• Develop and implement a sponsor relations plan to build profile and reputation for CNA-Q, and increase engagement between the College and business and industry stakeholders.
• Maintain an awareness of key business and industry issues and initiatives and look for opportunities for CNA-Q to participate or collaborate.
• Identify and implement sponsorships and partnerships to build profile and engagement.
• Develop and implement business and industry engagement plans for campus developments, institutional planning and other major activities.
• Create effective working relationships and explore partnership opportunities with key business and industry leaders as well as leaders of business and industry associations.
