Role:
The post-holder will take a lead role in the identification and treatment of concurrent psychiatric and substance use disorders. The post-holder will work to develop therapeutic strategies tailored to one or more specific sub-groups: adults - general, adults - acute (complex needs) and young people less than 18 years of age.
The post-holder will participate in delivering agreed projects (and programs) by contributing to the development of the environment of care encompassing clinical service program areas which include: detoxification, residential, rehabilitation, dual diagnosis, out-patient, day care, home treatment, out-reach and liaison consultation services
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assess a client’s needs, abilities or behavior using a variety of diagnostic tests and through interviews and direct observation.
2. Examine or conduct laboratory or diagnostic tests on clients to provide information on general physical condition or mental disorder.
3. Analyze and evaluate client data or test findings to diagnose nature or extent of mental disorder.
4. Prescribe, direct or administer pharmacologic and/or psychotherapeutic treatments to treat mental, emotional or behavioral disorders.
5. Assess capacity and obtain informed consent and, where clients lack capacity to consent, to have the ability to work within a legal and ethical framework.
6. Provide clinical leadership as part of a multidisciplinary team undertaking care planning for an identified group of clients.
7. Devise and monitor appropriate programs of treatment in collaboration with colleagues.
8. Develop and evaluate service provision for clients.
9. Provide consultation to other professions, promoting an evidenced-based person-centered approach in their work.
10. Advise or inform guardians, relatives, or significant others of clients' conditions or treatment when appropriate.
11. Conduct clinical research, adding to the evidence base of practice in addictions and related areas.
12. Teach, undertake an agreed program of continuing professional development and attend conferences or seminars to increase the personal and collective understanding of mental, emotional and behavioral states or disorders.
13. Prepare and submit case reports or summaries to government or mental health agencies.
14. Maintain appropriately detailed records to monitor the progress of clients’ treatments.
15. Contribute to strategies that align outcomes and goals with the leadership vision for the company.
16. Serve on committees to promote or maintain community mental health and addictions services or delivery systems.
17. Assist in the recruitment of staff, talent and skills for all clinical services in conjunction with Human Resources.
18. Contribute to a positive work and learning environment by promoting teamwork, co-operation and harmonious relationships amongst colleagues.
19. Assume any other responsibilities and functions as directed by the Consultant and CEO within the scope of the post.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
1. To report for duty punctually whilst maintaining a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene and adhere to the organization’s grooming standards.
2. To maintain good working relationships with your team members and all other departments.
3. To ensure that you read the organization’s Employee Handbook and have an understanding of and adhere to the rules and regulations and in particular, the policies and procedures relating to Fire, Hygiene, Health and Safety.
4. To comply with local legislation as required.
5. To respond to any changes in the department as dictated by the needs of your superior and/or organization.
6. To be flexible and extend job duties to carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the job capability as assigned, including redeployment to alternative departments/areas if required, to meet business demands and needs of the organization.
